Patronage Refunds & Benefit
Carroll County Coop operates for the benefit of our members. Each year, the Board of Directors may declare patronage refunds, which represent a share of the Coop’s profits distributed back to members. The refund amount is determined based on the Coop’s financial performance and by-laws.

How Patronage Refunds Work
✔ If a patronage refund is declared, distributions occur within 9 months after the fiscal year closes
✔ Refunds less than $50 will not be issued
✔ The 60% PRA remains in the member’s account until it is revolved by the Board
✔ When refunds are paid, members will receive 40% in cash and 60% as a Patronage Refund Allocation (PRA)
✔ Members must meet the minimum purchase volume requirement to qualify
✔ Each year, members will receive a 1099 tax form reflecting 100% of their refund amount.

Patronage Revolvement
Patronage revolvement refers to the eventual payout of the 60% PRA that was retained as capital. The Board of Directors determines when revolvements occur, ensuring the Coop remains financially stable. Older patronage refunds are paid out first when a revolvement is declared.
